Provide your staff with a personal health profile by undergoing our comprehensive employee health checks. These can be offered on site at your workplace or at one of Health Matters’ clinics in Belfast or Newry and are available for both males and females aged 16+. The appointment duration and cost will depend on your choice of package.
The overall aims of our MOT Health Checks include:
To provide data to help employers evaluate health risks in their staff
To detect early signs/symptoms of staff developing high cholesterol, diabetes, high blood pressure and ill health
To provide staff with one to one lifestyle advice to prevent ill health and onset of cardiovascular diseases or diabetes
To promote employee value and worth
To promote staff health and wellbeing in the workplace.
Assessments can include all or a range of the following measurements: Glucose, Cholesterol, Blood Pressure, Body Composition, Facial Skin Scope and Lung Function. A summary report can also be provided on request detailing anonymous overall health & lifestyle results and recommendations for further health and wellbeing programmes.
The cholesterol measurement involves obtaining a small sample of blood from an individual’s finger.
The test measures total cholesterol as well as high-density lipoprotein (‘good’) cholesterol and provides an overall cholesterol ratio.
The blood glucose test involves obtaining a small sample of blood from an individual’s finger.
The glucose measurement is used to indicate risk of diabetes.
BLOOD PRESSURE & PULSE RATE:
Blood pressure and pulse rate are measured by placing a cuff on the arm.
The measurement indicates the pressure in the arteries when the heart beats (systolic blood pressure) and the pressure in the arteries when the heart rests (diastolic blood pressure). The number of heart beats per minute are also measured. Our monitors are medically validates to ensure optimal accuracy.
This test involves blowing sharply into a handheld peak flow meter.
The measurement indicates how well the lungs are functioning.
BODY COMPOSITION ANALYSIS:
Body composition analysis is carried out using bioelectric impedance which involves the individual standing barefoot on the analyser.
Results for weight, fat free mass, body fat mass & percentage, total body water, visceral fat, metabolic age and BMR are explained. An individual print out of results is provided of each client. Our BIA scales are medically validated which ensures optimal accuracy.
FACIAL SKIN SCOPE:
This check involves the client placing their head under the hood of the desktop scope.
Facial skin damage that has been caused from exposure to UV rays can be observed.
*This test is not a diagnostic tool or a predictor of skin cancer.*
Clients must fast for a minimum of 3 hours before the cholesterol and glucose tests in order to provide an accurate result.
Clients who are currently taking blood thinning medication i.e. warfarin cannot avail of the cholesterol and / or glucose tests.
Clients who have medically implanted devices such as defibrillators or pacemakers cannot avail of body composition analysis.
Clients will receive personal results during the appointment and all health checks can be undertaken within the workplace.
When providing workplace assessments, due to data protection and confidentiality rights, Health Matters cannot provide an employer with individual employee feedback. However, as an alternative, an all encompassing summary report can be provided at an additional cost. This summary report may be a useful tool for collective analysis of overall employee health and wellbeing. Please contact us for further information.
