This course is for individuals responsible for investigating accidents who want to gain a new or better understanding of what to do in the event of a health & safety accident or incident in the workplace.
This course aims to provide employees with an understanding of the importance of accident investigation, the methods adopted in investigating accidents, the importance of reporting and understanding how to react to ensure effective reporting.
On successful completion of the course, Learners will understand the following:
- How to define – the cost of accidents/known statistics, law, HSENI and responsibilities
- What an incident is – accident, dangerous occurrence, near miss
- Why we need to investigate incidents making the investigation, statement, and measurement.
- How to gather necessary information
- Prepare a report – internally, RIDDOR
- Complete appropriate forms – NICS & NI2508
- Best prevent recurrence
The course content covers the following topics:
- How to determine which incidents warrant investigation
- How to use effective investigation and interviewing techniques to gather complete, objective and accurate data
- How to analyze incidents to identify root causes
- The human relations aspects of incident reporting
- What data to include in investigation reports
- Hazard control measures and follow-up
At the end of the course, Learners will take a multi-choice assessment to verify the knowledge and skills that they have gained through this course.
Upon successfully completing this course, delegates will be given a certificate valid for three years.
