Automated External Defibrillator Training (AED)

This half day course is suitable for persons who wish to be able to demonstrate safe and appropriate practice when using an AED in line with current Resuscitation Council Protocols. Although no previous knowledge is necessary, we recommend that participants are in possession of a current First Aid at Work certificate.

 

Individual employers and organisations should make arrangements for retraining to be available, but the frequency of this refresher training will depend on the individual. For guidance, skills should be refreshed at least once a year, but preferably more often. (UK – Resus Council 2016).

QA Level 3 Award In Emergency First Aid at Work

This 1 day course should be considered for the “appointed persons” who will be trained to assist a “suitable person” or provide short-term cover for the trained first aider if they were absent without prior warning.

 

On completion of the training, successful candidates should:

• Understand the role and responsibilities of a first aider
• Be able to assess an incident
• Be able to provide first aid to an unresponsive casualty
• Be able to provide first aid to a casualty who is choking
• Know how to provide first aid to a casualty with external bleeding
• Know how provide first aid to a casualty who is in shock
• Know how to provide first aid to a casualty with minor injuries

 

This is a comprehensive First Aid course designed to deliver training in basic life-saving priorities and skills. There is no formal written or practical examination for this course. However, trainers use continuous assessment to evaluate candidate’s attainment. Certificates of attendance are issued which are valid for 3 years.

Essentials of Paediatric First Aid - 3 hours

This 3 hour course is designed for parents, guardians and casual childminders who care for babies and children of all ages who wish to be provided with the essentials of paediatric first aid to cover common risks for babies and young children.

 

Please Note: This training does not meet the requirements of registered childminders who require a 12 hour paediatric first aid course.

 

Our trainers can put particular emphasis or cover additional content if required by the parents and / or guardians attending.

QA LeveL 3 Award In First Aid at Work

This 3 day course is suitable for employees who wish to become qualified first aiders and are easily accessible to others in the workplace.

 

On successful completion of the training candidates will:

• Understand the role and responsibilities of a first aider
• Be able to assess an incident
• Be able to provide first aid to an unresponsive casualty
• Be able to provide first aid to a casualty who is choking
• Know how to provide first aid to a casualty with external bleeding
• Know how provide first aid to a casualty who is in shock
• Know how to provide first aid to a casualty with minor injuries
• Be able to conduct a secondary survey
• Be able to provide first aid to a casualty with suspected injuries to bones, muscles and joints
• Be able to provide first aid to a casualty with suspected head and spinal injuries
• Know how to provide first aid to a casualty with suspected chest injuries
• Know how to provide first aid to a casualty with burns and scalds
• Know how to provide first aid to a casualty with an eye injury
• Know how to provide first aid to a casualty with sudden poisoning
• Know how to provide first aid to a casualty with anaphylaxis
• Know how to provide first aid to a casualty with suspected major illness

 

Assessment is in the form of 6 Practical assessments, 2 Theory assessments (Multiple Choice Question Papers) also continuous formative assessments will be conducted throughout the course.

 

The certificate for First Aid At work is valid for 3 years from date of issue and update training (2 days duration) must be completed before date of expiry of current certification or the full 3 day course will have to be attended again.

QA Level 3 Requalifying Award In First Aid at Work

This 2 day course is suitable for all first aiders who are approaching the end of their 3 year certificated period and wish to renew their qualification.

 

All subjects covered in the 3-day course are revised and updated and candidates who have been successful in practical and oral assessments will be presented with a certificate, which is valid for an additional 3 years.

 

Assessment is in the form of 6 Practical assessments, 2 Theory assessments (Multiple Choice Question Papers) also continuous formative assessments will be conducted throughout the course.

 

On completion of training, and if successful in all components of assessment (including written and practical examinations), each student will be issued with a certificate of competency in regard to their ability to deal safely and effectively with first aid emergencies in the workplace.

Mental Health First Aid

This 2 day course has been devised to increase the knowledge and confidence of participants to enable them to provide first aid and support for people experiencing mental health problems at home and at work.

 

Recognised and approved by the Public Health Agency, the training educates and delivers the message that mental health problems are everybody’s business; affecting neighbours, friends, colleagues, relatives and not forgetting ourselves.
Mental Health First Aid is a certificated course approved by the Public Health Agency. Participants who successfully complete the course receive certification in Mental Health First Aid.

Paediatric First Aid 12 Hour

This 12 hour / 2 day course is designed for individuals (staff and family members) who care for babies and children of all ages who require the underpinning knowledge and understanding to carry out first aid on babies and children for whom they have a ‘duty of care’.

 

The course provides delegates with a 12 hour Paediatric First Aid Qualification which is a mandatory requirement for all staff working within the childcare sector.

 

Our trainers, who deliver all Paediatric First Aid programmes, ensure the training complies with local authority requirements also the Education and Training Inspectorate requirements for first aid training in Early Years and other childcare settings.

 

Students will be required to be successful in a two part assessment both written and practical and on successful completion of the course a certificate, valid for 3 years will be awarded to each candidate.

Paediatric First Aid Refresher

This 6 hour / 1 day course is designed as a refresher training course for individuals who have previously completed a 12 Hour Paediatric First Aid course.

The training course is used to update Paediatric First Aid knowledge as well updating practical skills on CPR and any changes in guidelines of those who require the underpinning knowledge and understanding required to carry out first aid on babies and children for whom they have a ‘duty of care’, perhaps in a childcare setting.
