‘Excellence in Workplace Health and Well-being’ winner avails of Health Matters at Work Initiative

Our Health Promotion team were delighted to have been invited to the Belfast Telegraph Business Awards by the Public Health Agency. The prestigious event was held in the Crowne Plaza, Belfast on Thursday 26th April with a great turnout from local businesses eager to be crowned winners of their categories. The annual awards introduced a new category this year, ‘Excellence in Workplace Health and Well-being’. The Public Health Agency sponsored this award. Over the past 2 years, Health Matters have been working alongside the Public Health Agency to implement the ‘Health Matters at Work Initiative’. This is a fully funded service offering businesses in the Southern, South Eastern and Belfast Trust regions, free health and wellbeing support services.

This new category received a very high volume of awards applications. From the final 5 shortlisted companies, 3 had availed of the ‘Health Matters at Work Initiative’.

The 5 shortlisted companies were:

FinTrU Ltd

Flynn

JP Corry

Novosco

The Lava Group NI Ltd

Health Matters provided health and wellbeing services for FinTru Ltd, Flynn and The Lava Group NI Ltd.

Criteria required to be shortlisted for Excellence in Workplace Health and Well-being Award:

  • The implementation of a workplace health and well-being action plan
  • Effective employee engagement in planning actions to address needs
  • A leadership commitment to address the needs of employees
  • Evidence of effectiveness through evaluation of the activities and the support provided

All of the shortlisted companies certainly highlighted dedication and commitment to providing a working environment where employees enjoyed policies that made a difference to their health and well-being. The winner on the night was Flynn, who undoubtedly demonstrated all of the above and more!

We are extremely happy the services we provided have helped to improve the health and well-being of workplaces, and proud to have worked with the award winners, Flynn.
