This course is for anyone who may be required to operate an evacuation chair. The course aims to develop learners’ confidence in their ability to operate evacuation chairs in an emergency.
The course consists of a short theory session covering key areas such as legislation and risk assessment, followed by a practical element covering the equipment’s use.
The course aims to develop learners’ confidence in their ability to operate evacuation equipment in an emergency safely.
After completing the course, the delegate should:
- Have a basic understanding of the Regulations affecting the mobility impaired.
- Be able to prepare the equipment ready for use.
- Understand the correct technique required to manoeuvre the equipment.
- Have confidence in the equipment and the ability to operate it safely.
- Use of an Evacuation Chair
- Escape Time / Special Considerations
- Emergency Evacuations of Persons (PEEP’s)
- Safe Handling / Manual handling considerations
- Chair conduct
- Practical use of chair and video
- Safety Inspections
The learner’s ability to meet the learning outcomes is assessed via multi-choice and practical assessment exercises.
Upon successfully completing this course, delegates are given a certificate valid for three years.
