This course is for anyone who may be required to operate an evacuation chair. The course aims to develop learner’s confidence in their ability to safely operate the equipment for use in an emergency.
The course content consists of a short theory session covering key areas such as, legislation and risk assessment followed by a practical element which covers use of the equipment.
The course aim is to develop learner’s confidence in their ability to safely operate the equipment for use in an emergency.
After completing the course, delegate should:
- Have a basic understanding of the Regulations affecting the mobility impaired.
- Be able to prepare the equipment ready for use for use.
- Understand the correct technique required to manoeuvre the equipment.
- Have confidence in the equipment and the ability to operate it safely.
- Use of an Evacuation Chair
- Escape Time / Special Considerations
- Emergency Evacuations of Persons (PEEP’s)
- Safe Handling / Manual handling considerations
- Chair conduct
- Practical use of chair and video
- Safety Inspections
The learner’s ability to meet the learning outcomes is assessed via both multi-choice and practical assessment exercises.
On successful completion of this course, delegates are provided with a certificate valid for 3 years.
