02 Jan 2018 Highlights at Health Matters
Now that we are back and ready to start another busy year, we have had a look back at the action pack year we had in 2018. Check out some of our highlights below:
Record numbers of CSR Delegates
CSR Training is one of our most popular construction courses and we are pleased to say we had our busiest year yet! In 2018, over 2,500 delegates attended CSR across both our Belfast and Newry Training Centres. A busy year on top of the plenty of other courses we run! This year we are introducing an extra CSR training session in our Belfast Training Centre on the first Saturday of every month, starting from February. CSR will continue to run as normal every Friday and Saturday in Newry and every other Friday in Belfast too.
Highest Number of Mental Health First Aid Courses
Our numbers for Mental Health First Aid also substantially increased in 2018. We held 17 courses in total including open courses and in-company courses. This has more than doubled from 2017 when we only held 4 courses! It is great to see that Mental Health is being recognised in the workplace and the importance of having a trained Mental Health First Aider. One in four adults in the UK will be diagnosed with a mental health condition in any given year- you never know when this training may prove useful both inside and outside of work. Training in Healthcare Award Winners
In February 2018, we were delighted to have been awarded the ‘Training in Healthcare’ award at the Randox Health Healthcare awards. We were particularly proud as the award recognised the hard work, dedication, commitment and innovation of our management and staff. They work tirelessly to improve and develop a diverse range of healthcare-related training programmes across the UK and Ireland. To view our full range of healthcare training courses, click here.
NEBOSH Health and Wellbeing at Work- New Course
In 2018, we added a new qualification to our NEBOSH portfolio– the NEBOSH National Certificate in the Management of Health and Wellbeing at Work. This qualification is designed to provide the skills and knowledge required to tackle health and wellbeing at work; achieving productivity gains, reducing absenteeism and providing a better place to work. We are delighted that the first group achieved a 100% pass rate in their recent exam results! Over 70% of the class achieved a ‘Distinction’ grade and the remainder achieved ‘Credit’ grades! Our next course begins 25th January in our Newry Training Centre, click here to read more.
Our sales team were extremely busy maintaining and further developing relationships with our existing clients. We have successfully secured a number of new clients, ranging from small sole traders to large multinationals. Our aim is to provide a quality, bespoke and affordable service, encouraging clients to avail of our services again in future and generate repeat business for the company.
Continued Success Implementing the Health Matters at Work Initiative
After funding was awarded in 2016 by the Public Health Agency, 2018 was our second full year of implementing the ‘Health Matters at Work Initiative’. Our Health Promotion team worked tirelessly to fulfil this initiative by providing support to organisations across NI to enhance health and wellbeing activities. The results of the service we have provided were evident at the Belfast Telegraph Business Awards in April. The annual awards introduced a new category, ‘Excellence in Workplace Health and Well-being’. Out of final 5 shortlisted companies, 3 had availed of the ‘Health Matters at Work Initiative’: FinTru Ltd, Flynn and The Lava Group NI Ltd. We were extremely happy the services we provided helped to improve the health and well-being of workplaces, and are proud to have worked with the award winners, Flynn.
Health Matters would like to thank all of our valued customers for their continued support in 2018. We wish everyone a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year. Looking forward to another exciting year ahead!
